“Party” Week In Ibiza

Es Vedra in Ibiza, Spain

It’s NOT a party island.

Ok, Ibiza definitely is a party island. But that’s not all it has to offer. I’ve never considered myself a “party girl.” But I can absolutely appreciate great music and cold drinks in the hot sun. I don’t know what initially made me want to vacation in Ibiza, Spain. It certainly was not the party scene that drew me in considering clubs have always given me anxiety. But this random trip was one of the best experiences of my life!

The idea popped into my head in April of 2023. I called up one of my closest friends. “Tiffany… wanna go to Ibiza in October?!” She responded. “Hell yea!” No questions asked. I will say, having at least 1 friend that will follow you off of a cliff is essential in life. She’s that friend. Love you, Tiff!

We stayed at Hotel Sa Clau by MAMBO in the Sant Antoni de Portmany section of Ibiza. It was conveniently across the street from a taxi rank and in a prime location. I would absolutely stay again. We also flew TAP Air Portugal which allowed for a 22 hour layover in Lisbon on the way back home. Now that those details are out of the way… Upon our arrival in Ibiza we immediately noticed the bohemeian/hippie vibe infused throughout the island and its culture. It really becomes obvious in Dalt Vila, their old city. This is where you’ll find the prettiest incense burning boutiques selling spiritual stones, essential oils, zodiac birth stones, tarot cards, and more fun things. I embraced it.

Let’s talk food and fun! The first meal we had was at a beautiful restaurant only a 5 minute walk from the hotel named Es Ventall. We shared their monkfish & cuttlefish black rice paella with prawns. I can’t articulate how I floated off to heaven with every spoonful of buttery seafood flavored rice. Needless to say I highly recommend it. Amante Ibiza was probably one of the most beautiful restaurant views in the world. We ate and stayed for hours after just to savor what was in front of us.

One of my favorite days was our beach party day at O Beach Ibiza. We walked in for brunch and had no idea that would turn into us paying for a poolside bed and staying until midnight! It was our luck that we were there on their hip-hop/ reggaeton day. I had the time of all times…. We drank, danced, laughed, and had the best bff (best friend forever) time. The service was amazing and the people were wild and free. I think this time was so special because it was one of those self-reflective moments. You know the kind I’m talking about. When something amazing is happening and you realize that you are living your own dream? I hadn’t even pictured this happening a year ago. And now here I am dancing in the middle of a Spanish island without a care in the world. It felt unreal. It felt magical. It felt well-deserved. It was a high.

Let’s talk beaches, aside from the fact you can walk around topless. And yes I did just that! Every beach was a variation of cerulean, royal, and sky blue. This was the type of blue water that you forget exists living in the United States. But my favorite beaches were Ses Illetes and Sa Caleta or Es Bol Nou. We took a day trip to Formentera, the smallest of the Balearic islands south of Ibiza. I highly recommend seeing Ses Illetes with your own eyes. It’s considered one of the best beaches in the world and I’ll admit it. It was absolutely beautiful. My favorite beach was probably Sa Caleta. It was just so unique. The sand and surrounding cliffs were the color of red clay and although it was a little painful to walk on it was so picturesque. I was just happy to take it all in. The restaurant overlooking Sa Caleta was chef’s kiss. We ate and drank until the sun went down like 2 rich drunk besties.

Es Vedra, pictured above, was also a beautiful sight to see. The spot we chose to view It from required a short hike. Once we arrived at the top we saw this small uninhabited rock islet. You can not touch or visit this island that is believed to once be the home of nymphs, mermaids, and other mythological creatures. It is also said to be one of the most magnetic points in the world. Regardless of what you believe, you should believe me when I say this. It was worth the walk. It was peaceful, serene, and an honor to behold.

There was so much more that went on but this post has been long enough. So with that being said, these are the things I want you to take away from this post.

Ibiza is the best place for party animals and non-party animals alike. Have a ride-or-die friend that will travel with you to another continent with no explanation. Most of all, step outside of your comfort zone. This was our first bestie trip. It was my first time at a club/beach party. We had never been to Spain. I had NEVER been topless in public. We had so many new experiences. So I will end this blog by telling you, not to hesitate when it comes to embracing new things. Play around with what feels “safe” to you and slightly step outside of that, especially while exploring the world. You’ll return home feeling like a new person, ready to take on whatever adventure comes next. Just do it.
